| September Letter to the Residents | |||
| If you're a theater producer, you don't open your big production on Broadway; instead, you have a trial run off-Broadway somewhere to iron out any kinks.
When Nicki, our Director of Resident Services, got the idea for a Senior Health and Resource Fair, we weren't sure we were ready for the big time, i.e. our San Marcos communities, so we tried it out on one of our other communities first. I'm happy to say that the Resource Fair we held at The Tropics, our big community in the Bay Area, was a huge success, giving us the confidence to bring this concept to San Marcos. I don't have all the details yet. We're hoping to have this big event in October at the Palomar East Clubhouse but that hasn't been confirmed; we're still waiting for confirmation from some of the key participants, such as a local hospital, other health care providers, AARP, San Marcos Police and Fire personnel and many more. However, I wanted you to be aware that this big event is coming. Whenever it happens, I hope to see you there. Thanks So Much... ...for your great response to the Annual Income Certification process. I'm happy to report that all but 28 of you have returned your forms (as I type this on Aug. 6). I'm sure the rest of you have probably turned your forms in by now. Every dollar of the property tax exemption Rancho Vallecitos receives from your income forms is used to improve your Community--a much better use of your rent dollars than giving that money to the tax assessor, don't you think? One Small Step for Trees... Every year, owners of manufactured home communities are required to distribute complete copies of the Mobilehome Residency Law ("MRL") to each of their residents. We have to do this even if you still have your copy from last year. The MRL takes 20 pages to print--and that's using small type. Assuming about 365,000 manufactured home spaces in California...20 pages x 365,000 homes = 7,300,000 pages, most of which no one ever reads. Think of all the trees that gave their lives to produce unwanted copies of the MRL--not to mention the landfill space, the toxic ink, energy costs... That's about to change. As of January 1, 2011, we only have to let you know that you can get a free copy of the MRL at the Park Office, which we will gladly provide you. The State Legislature finally did something intelligent! Have a Great Labor Day... |
