George's Memo

September Letter to the Residents
For some of our communities, it can be a challenge to have something fresh to discuss in my monthly Millennium Memo. Not so in Rancho Feliz! I have the opposite problem--which of the many activities to highlight each month. I guess I'll start with...

Kids Spree

43 lucky Rancho Feliz kids were treated to a shopping spree at Coddington Mall. They arrived at 6:30, well before the Mall opened, and were given $150 to spend at stores that agreed to open early just for us--Penny's, Payless Shoes, Icing, to name a few.

Afterwards, our kids were treated to a delicious pancake breakfast served by the Fire Department; got a free haircut, if they chose; played games; and, to top it off, every child received a new backpack stuffed with school supplies.

We owe a big thanks to Nicki Ross, our Director of Resident Services; the Santa Rosa Chapter of 20-30 International, an organization of young professionals who donated the money; the Fire Department, of course; and perhaps most important, the parents who got up at that early hour to get their kids to the Mall to enjoy this special day.

Free to Be

This is a mentoring program for High School kids that we are delighted to bring to Rancho Feliz. Free to Be features upbeat, involved college students who want to work with their high school counterparts.

We've had several Free to Be meetings in the Clubhouse in July. This month, a big event geared toward Spanish-speaking kids is being planned offsite. We hope to have more details shortly...and more programs like this for our older kids.

Bike Rodeo

How fun was that!

46 kids received free bike helmets; Stephen Guardino and Troy Berry generously volunteered their bike repair skills; our young bike riders were challenged by an obstacle course and many other fun games. Thanks to everyone who helped with that great event.

Back-to-School BBQ

I'm writing this a week ahead of the August 14 Back-to-School Party, but I feel safe in predicting this will be yet another SPARC-sponsored success.

Just another month in Rancho Feliz!
