Because Lamplighter is a Millennium Housing Community, our residents enjoy a peace of mind not found elsewhere, including the following protections:

• Millennium Housing has pledged to follow the guidelines of the Salinas Rent Control Ordinance, even if it is repealed or invalidated. This is rent control that can't be taken away!

• Lamplighter residents will not have to fear a forced condo-conversion, park closure or other change of use. Although many other communities are closing or being redeveloped, we intend to maintain Lamplighter indefinitely as an affordable manufactured home community.

• All surplus funds generated by Lamplighter are held in trust to be used for Capital Improvements, additional maintenance, resident activities or other items that enhance the Lamplighter lifestyle.

• Our residents have more of a voice in how their community is operated than would be the case with a for-profit owner. We welcome input regarding rules, budget priorities, management policies and the uses of the Surplus Fund.

Lamplighter also benefits from SPARC, Millennium's resident services arm. SPARC seeks to bring local-area resources and SPARC's own programs into our Communities. By way of example, past SPARC programs in Millennium communities have included Back-to-School giveaways; the Millennium College Scholarship; Health Fairs; and many other programs that help our residents.
